A Declining Economy Taking Its Toll On Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

With the current economy money is tight and many people are cutting back on their spending, which in turn affects nearly every industry in the United States, and in some cases, the world. The cosmetic surgery industry has hit harder than other industries. This is most likely due tot he fact that most every plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure performed today is considered an elective surgery- or in other words- not a necessary surgery procedure required to maintain life.

Over the past few years, the plastic and cosmetic surgery industry has experienced a steep decline in the number of all procedures performed, but especially the very popular procedures such as Breast enhancement, Body contouring procedures such as liposuction and Abdominoplasty. In reality, it is no real secret why these ever-popular surgical procedures have suddenly become less popular. elective surgeries such as these can cost thousands of dollars, and most people are looking for less expensive solutions for looking younger.

BOTOX Cosmetic in Hawaii

"If you keep making that face, it is going to stay that way permanently."

I remember my mom used to tell us kids that frequently, especially when one of us would make a frustrated face or dare to shoot mom an angry glance. Little did I realize that as I got older, Mom's wisdom would become more fact than fiction.

Every year we grow older, our skin also ages. Our aging skin along with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are the result of what could be the combination of a multitude of various factors. In addition to the normal changes to our skin cells, the loss of hormones and decreased collagen production, we also experience changes to areas surrounding the face such as the brow/forehead area caused by muscle contractions.

We have all seen the effects that muscle contractions have on the skin. Are you familiar with those vertical lines that appear between your brows? Those are commonly referred to as "11's" and are the result from repeated muscle contractions. every time you concentrate, squint, or frown, the muscles that control your brow movement contract. Over time, this will cause the brow skin to furrow and fold. After years of repeated brow contractions, those 11's can begin to stay prominent, even after your brow muscles are relaxed. Gee, maybe Mom was right after all.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that temporarily treats the fine lines and wrinkles caused by aging and muscle contractions by blocking nerve signals to the muscles in the treatment area. BOTOX® cosmetic achieves this by "stunning" the muscles, thereby reducing the muscle activity that is causing the prominent lines to form between the brows. A BOTOX treatment session consists of a few injection administered by your plastic surgeon. The procedure only takes a few minutes, and there is no down time.

Suitable Solutions for Postpartum Women Dissatisfied With the New Shape Of Their Breasts

Breast enhancement and breast lift surgery procedures are suitable solutions for women suffering from postpartum depression and are also unhappy with the shape of their breasts following pregnancy and nursing. Most women, after having children, begin to lose tissue volume in the upper part of the chest, resulting in a hollowed appearance in the upper breast.

The medical term used to describe sagging of the breasts is breast ptosis. In such cases, the plastic surgeon may elect to perform a breast lift procedure (also referred to as a Mastopexy). The surgeon may also insert a breast implant in the breast to restore the lost volume. The size of a woman’s breasts depends on the volume of breast tissue. If a patient has sufficient volume, only a simple lift is required in order to provide a tighter, more youthful appearing skin envelope, thus allowing the breasts to stand high and firm.

Breast enlargement Plastic Surgery Carson City through the use of implants is a regular atop the annual list of most popular cosmetic surgeries in the United States, but would obviously be little help to a woman suffering from the adverse effects of excessively large breasts. A consultation with a qualified surgeon will help you find the answers to these and other questions. Carson City plastic surgeon Dr. Kent Gabriel is guided by a "therapeutic alliance" with his patients throughout highly informative pre-operative contacts to help you make the best decision for your self, along with his surgical techniques and on-going post-operative care. Could Brow Lift Surgery Be Right For You?

Brow lift surgery, also referred to as a "forehead Lift", is cosmetic surgery procedure that is meant to restore a youthful, refreshed look to the forehead area. This procedure corrects sagging or drooping of the forehead skin and treats the horizontal lines and' furrows' that make a person appear tired, sad or angry.

During Brow Lift surgery, the plastic surgeon removes and/or tightens the muscles and tissue that are the cause the brow to 'furrow' and also to minimize frown lines. The surgeon may choose to utilize a conventional surgical method, during which the incision is strategically placed to be hidden just under the hair line. Alternatively the surgeon may choose to perform your brow lift procedure with the use of an endoscope. The endoscope is a viewing instrument that allows some surgical procedures to be successfully performed with small incisions. Both surgical methods provide similar results - a smoother, more youthful appearance to the forehead skin and
creating a more animated appearance.

Facelift Surgery Can Correct Sagging Facial Skin

As we grow older, our individual genetic history, exposure / over exposure to the elements such as the sun and wind, and other factors such as the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs can actually alter our skin, thereby causing a loss of skin tone and elasticity as well as assisting in the development of wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin around the neck, mouth, eyes and forehead. Folds in the skin become prominent around areas of the face such as the chin, and neck. Face lift surgery can correct these conditions by a plastic surgeon tightening the facial muscles and 'lifting' the facial skin.

Los Angeles, CA - Gynecomastia Surgeon

Los Angeles breast reduction isn't just about relieving back and neck pain for women with disproportionately large breasts. Although doctors like Los Angeles plastic surgeon, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, do offer these women relief from some of the ill effects of being a bit too voluptuous, there is also breast reduction for men.

Gynecomastia, which Mirriam-Webster Online defines as "excessive development of the breast in the male," is actually quite common. Statistically, a man has a better chance of developing gynecomastia than avoiding it. Frequently it resolves itself, but not always. These "man-boobs" don't have to be permanent. Just as Dr. Teitelbaum helps women with excessive breast tissue, men can also be treated for their gynecomastia. Male plastic surgery doesn't have to be confined to moobs, either. While you consider Dr. Teitelbaum as your gynecomastia surgeon, you might benefit from other procedures as well.

Beverly Hills - Breast Implant Surgery

A brief perusal of the history of prosthetics yields regular indication that Ambroise Paré is the father of medical amputation, and so instrumental to prosthetics as we know them. "Earliest known" prosthetics are cited, and one finds commentary on how materials and technique changed little over centuries. As with so many areas of science, however, prosthetics took off in the last century. Plastics, fiberglass, and other space-age materials replaced iron, wood, and leather. What's the connection to breast implants in Beverly Hills?

A prosthesis is an artificial apparatus which replaces a body part or makes a body part work better. Arms and legs are easy examples (pirate movie, anyone?), but the term applies to a much broader range of accoutrements. Eyes, ears, digits, teeth, and even corrective lenses qualify, as does stuff placed inside the body surgically.

Like their external cousins, breast enhancement prosthetics implanted by Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Mani are matched specifically to the individual patient. Breast implants are surgically placed through incisions made either around the areola, under the arm, or along the fold below the breast. Since breast implants are not technically life-sustaining, the surgery is elective and not generally covered by insurance. The decision to have breast implant surgery, then, is that much more personal. The benefits of breast implants may not be as easily defined as those of a limb, but are no less real.

La Jolla Breast Enhancement

Plastic Surgeon in La Jolla - Self improvement comes in various forms, from selecting a sensible salad and eschewing the Board certified plastic surgeon in San Diego California Robert Kearney slab-o-steak to powering down the PlayStation and cracking open the Catcher in the Rye. That may be why we seek to improve ourselves; it does make us feel better. There are some things we just can't change on our own, though. The ever-present notion that a woman's breasts should look a certain way and be a certain size runs contrary to the reality that time and tide have so much more control over those atributes than she ever will. Breast augmentation is a highly personal decision. Dr. Robert Kearney provides highly personalized La Jolla breast augmentation care.

Cohesive Gel - Breast Implants in Santa Monica

Santa Monica Cohesive Implant - Silicone gel already enjoys a measure of popularity as a breast implant filler. Although silicone gel implants cannot be Santa Monica Breast Augmentation inflated after insertion and so may require a larger incision than a comparable augmentation with saline breast implants, its consistency gives it a more natural feel than saline. The concerns of the early '90s, centering around potential health risks supposed to be linked to leaking silicone have effectively been allayed, and the FDA bestowed their approval upon silicone implants in 2006. Now, the next generation of silicone gel implants are in clinical trials.

Sometimes referred to as "Gummy Bear" implants, the new cohesive gel breast implants are already widely popular in Europe. They are more form stable than either saline implants or conventional silicone implants. As such, they lend themselves well to a more tapered shape, which better resembles a natural breast contour. The nature of the silicone also renders them relatively leak-free.

These natural-feeling and -looking results are only available in the United States through certain surgeons participating in the clinical trials. Santa Monica plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is "the only surgeon in the state of California who was asked to participate in the clinical trials of all three cohesive implant manufacturers."

The Breast Enhancment Experience Re-Defined

Choosing the right plastic surgeon to perform your breast enhancement procedure includes a number of factors. Among these factors, one of the most important is your recovery following the procedure. Dallas Texas Plastic Surgeon Dr. William P. Adams States "A re-defined patient experience is now possible in breast augmentation including 24 hour recovery. I believe the patient's recovery post-surgery is most definitely one of the most important factors that correlate to the quality of the results of a given procedure."

In the majority of cases, post-operative pain is an important issue for patients undergoing breast enhancement surgery. Modern plastic surgeons have employed clinical trials and on going research in order to advance recovery and increase the comfort of the patient during the healing process. Numerous procedure techniques designed to minimize post operative pain through the reduction on tissue trauma during the surgical procedure, ultimately maximizing the recovery process.

A procedure performed using one of these new techniques provides for a quick recovery from the breast procedure with minimal post-operative pain. More than 95 percent of patients return to normal activity levels within twenty-four hours following the completion of the surgery. The recovery process also includes using your arms and hands, especially actions that require you to lift your arms and hands over your head.

Laser Resurfacing Procedures Are Gaining Popularity

These days, facial rejuvenation and skin resurfacing has become a viable and realistic alternate treatment to a face lift. This is due in part to the advancements of technology for the use of lasers in a medical setting. Following this, the advanced Fraxel laser is one of the most widely used lasers in plastic surgeon offices around the world.

This is because the Fraxel Laser treats only a very small area of skin at a time and does not break the protective outer barrier of the skin. When one compares this to traditional resurfacing procedures that strip away the entire top layer of the damaged skin and have a lengthy recovery period, it is not hard to see why modern laser resurfacing procedures are gaining popularity among more invasive plastic surgery procedures.

Know Your Surgeon

The most important step a person considering plastic surgery can take to make sure the surgeon he or she chooses is the training and experience. A good plastic surgeon should have operating and admitting privileges at a major hospital that is near the surgeons office. It is important to remember to be cautious of those surgeons who will only offer procedures performed in an office-based surgery center.

There are two very important reasons for this. Hospitals have already thoroughly researched a doctor's qualifications and requires a strict set of qualifications and advanced training to allow a plastic surgeon to operate at the hospitals' facilities. Thus, a surgeon who only operates in an office-based facility probably has less than adequate qualifications, training and experience to operate in a Major metropolitan Hospital. Secondly, anyone considering a plastic or cosmetic procedure should remember that cosmetic surgery is still surgery, and like any surgery, complications can happen.

A lack of hospital admitting privileges should be seriously considered when choosing your surgeon. One question you should ask yourself is: "If a serious complication occurs during or after my plastic surgery procedure, how will I be admitted to a hospital, and who is responsible for my care?" If the surgeon you choose does not have privileges at a nearby hospital, he or she will not be allowed to care for you in the hospital's emergency room.

Abdominoplasty to Smooth Your Tummy in Carson City

Tummy Tuck in Carson City - If you've been tossing around the Breast Lift with Implants Lake Tahoe notion of seeking out a plastic surgeon, you've probably already got a "problem area" or two in mind that you want addressed. Perhaps you have finally lost those irritating "extra" pounds and just can't bring yourself to celebrate because, instead of shrinking with the rest of you, the skin around your middle felt it would be more fun to sag down like a deflated balloon.

As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and so is less willing to shrink down with the rest of the body once it's been stretched. A tummy tuck procedure is one option for dealing with this. By excising loose, over-hanging skin and tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall, a plastic surgeon can put the finishing touches on your hard work. A lot depends on your current physiology and future plans. Details like this are what makes the consultation with your surgeon so critical.

Dr. Kent Gabriel, a board certified plastic surgeon who also offers cosmetic surgery in Reno, describes his consultations as "lengthy and informative." By taking "as much time as a patient needs to discuss their situation," Dr. Gabriel hopes that whether or not a patient goes forward with their surgery with him, they will leave the consult with greater understanding.

What Can Fat Transfer Do For You?

A fat transfer Procedure is an alternative to using dermal fillers to treating the fine lines and wrinkles that begin to appear around the corner of our mouths, eyes and cheeks as we age. Fat transfer can also be utilized for enhancing features of the body such as the buttocks and even the breasts.

During a fat transfer procedure, a plastic surgeon will utilize fat tissues removed from another area of the body, and then used to fill out the area being treated. One advantage of fat transfer over other injectable fillers is that the area treated will generally not need re-treatment as the initial results are permanent in most cases.

Contemplating Breast Augmentation Surgery in Canton, MI

Michigan Breast Augmentation - Whenever I think back to the silicone gel-filled breast implant Breast Implants Michigan scare of the early nineties, it reminds me of a cartoon showing a woman with a tiny chest and bare-but-bell-bottomed legs glaring at a scientist, implying that the filler from her implants had not only leaked but filtered down through her body to slosh around her ankles. Of course, silicone gel is more likely to remain in the shell or the implant pocket. In fact it may be difficult even to detect a leak in a silicone implant without an ultrasound or MRI scan.

A lot has been learned over the almost two decades since the FDA withdrew its approval of silicone breast implants (which approval was restored in 2006; silicone breast implants are currently available for augmentation in women 22 years and older). So many of the facts about breast implants are only applicable on a personal basis, based on the physiology of the individual patient, which makes your doctor consultation so important. Dr. Bazzi is a board certified Michigan plastic surgeon who can provide you the personalized information you need.

Breast Reduction in Scottsdale Arizona

Of all plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures, patients who have had breast reduction surgery report one of the highest satisfaction ratings. For many women with large breasts, neck and back pain is a chronic problem. Heavy breasts can also cause grooves int he shoulders under the bra straps, rashes and skin irritations underneath the breasts and women of all ages with large breasts are also frequently the target of teasing, and social exclusion. Breast Reduction surgery provides relief from these problems in over ninety percent of patients who have this procedure.

Only about half of all patients' breast size is related to their body weight. When asked about a woman's breast size being directly related to body weight Scottsdale, Arizona plastic surgeon Patti Flint MD states" This is certainly not true in all patients. I have cared for many patients who have lost large amounts of weight without a single bra cup size decrease."

Breast reduction surgery procedures are meant for patients whose breasts are overly large for their frame and as a result they suffer the associated symptoms. However, there are also many patients who elect to have breast reduction surgery as a result of feeling self conscious about the size of their breasts, and desire a smaller chest, but are not yet experiencing the pain and physical complications. For both types of patient, there is a noticeable increase in self esteem, energy levels and improvement in posture after surgery and recovery.

Unlike days past when only the rich and famous consulted plastic surgeons across the country - and even the world - patients now are willing to travel beyond their local communities to find the plastic surgeon that best meets their needs. With the advent of the internet, that world has now become smaller and the idea of traveling for plastic surgery is no longer considered unusual. Today's Plastic Surgeons understand the commitment to having plastic surgery in the first place, let alone the added burden of travel, and also realize that in the end, giving you the result that you desire is well worth the journey – and results that will last a lifetime.

Traveling longer distances for a plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure is becoming more common place in modern society. The desire and need to find the right 'fit' for patients and plastic surgeons has become increasingly important both to the success of surgery procedures that must be performed by specialists in their field, such as Breast Reconstruction, reconstructive surgery such as rhinoplasty(nose surgery) to correct a breathing problem, and more.

When one considers traveling for plastic surgery, he/she should always to their homework and research the procedure, and how traveling can promote healing, or can pose potential risks that would not be normally associated with having a surgery procedure locally. One should also consider the costs associated with traveling, lodging, post operative care and follow up visits with the surgeon. Check with your chosen surgeon to see what assistance the Doctor and his/her staff offer regarding travel accommodations, including lodging, flight booking, and post operative care.

These days most surgeons that treat patients from outside their local area also offer services to help with booking flights, providing lodging information and even helping you do the footwork, helping you with all aspect of traveling to another area to have a plastic surgery procedure.

Be sure to consult with your chosen surgeon and have all your questions answered regarding the surgery procedure and traveling. It is also a good idea to research your desired surgical procedure beforehand, to ensure you fully understand all aspect of the procedure. There is a large number of plastic surgery websites on the internet, the best one I have found is lookingyourbest.com. This is a free website the boasts a wealth of in depth and accurate plastic surgery information and they also offer a free service to help you locate experienced and qualified plastic surgeons in your area and around the country.

Protruding Ears Are Usually A Family Trait That Surgery Can Fix

Just as it is with all facial features, the size and shape of the ears are a family trait. For example, parents and grandparents with protruding ears, often have children with ears that share these same characteristics. Ear deformities can benefit from correction through surgery, and successful results can be seen in subjects as young as 4 years old. By this age, the ears have almost reached maturity and adult size, so very little change is expected after the age of 4.

During an ear surgery procedure, the plastic surgeon repositions the flexible ear cartilage. The incisions required for this procedure are usually placed behind the ear where any resulting scars will be the least visible. While there are several variations in techniques for ear surgery, the goal of the ear surgery procedure is the same in all cases - to provide a normal, more balanced appearance to the ears.

What Can I Expect From a Dermal Filler Treatment?

In most cases, Dermal filler appointments will take about an hour. Most of this time will be with a numbing agent gradually numbing the skin. Sometimes when extensive lip treatments are being performed, we will opt to give a small, nearly painless, numbing injection to deaden the sensitive lip tissue prior to administering the dermal filler. In this case, your lip will remain numb for up to an hour following the session.

During the actual treatment you should be very comfortable, feeling only some mild pin pricks or stinging. Most patients are impressed at the ease of these treatments. If you are experiencing significant discomfort during the session please advise the plastic surgeon as there are often other remedies to ease any pain you might be feeling.

After the session a small amount of swelling and redness in the treated area is normal and to be expected. Typically the majority of this reactivity will be gone within several hours but on occasion can persist for several days. Bruising can occur. If you are susceptible to bruising or on blood thinners, please let your provider know prior to the treatment so extra precautions or recommendations can be made. Bruising will not affect the end result but can take up to 10 days to resolve when significant.

Artistry and Experience is the Secret to Great Botox!

Although BOTOX® may look easy to administer, it is not this aspect which is most important to the outcome. The clinician's experience and "aesthetic eye" is the key to a great outcome with BOTOX®.

Treatments take 20-30 minutes unless you opt not to have your skin numbed prior to the injections, then the treatment should take less than 10 minutes. Several tiny injections are given in the areas that you and your provider have decided upon. They usually are barely appreciable in sensation or appearance following the injection. You can reapply makeup to the treated areas immediately after the session.

There are no specific after care instructions. If this is the first time you have had Botox injections, you will not notice any change for at least 3 days and the complete effect will take up to 14 days.

Side effects from Botox are very rare, but headaches can occur temporarily after the injection – especially in patients who suffer from frequent headaches. Ironically, Botox injections often help with frequent headache patients once the Botox takes effect. Bruising can occur although very infrequently. If you are prone to bruising or are on blood thinners please notify your caregiver; special techniques and recommendations will be used to try to minimize your bruising risk. If bruising does occur it will not affect your final result and typically is minor enough that makeup coverage will conceal it.

It is always recommended that anyone considering a cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure first consult with a qualified, and experienced cosmetic surgeon. Proper research and pre-procedure planning is an important step in a decision to undergo a cosmetic procedure, and one that should not be taken lightly. Ensure you fully understand the procedure, its risks, and have a realistic expectation of the results.

Research is very important to the process, and should be done prior to having your chosen procedure, no matter how invasive the procedure is. There are many great outlets available for this research,. the best one I have found is lookingyourbest.com- a free-to-use website that offers a large library full of in depth plastic and cosmetic surgery information. This website also offers a free service to help you locate a skilled and experienced specialist in your area.

Reasons For Having A Breast Lift Surgery Procedure

Breast lift surgery, or by the proper medical term "Mastopexy" is a plastic surgery procedure devised to lift and reshape sagging breasts. This procedure can also reduce the size of the areola, if needed. The Plastic Surgeon may insert implants during a breast lift procedure if the breasts have lost volume, increasing both the firmness of the breast and its size.

A breast lift can be performed at any age, but breast development must be complete. In most cases, breast lift surgery will not affect your ability to breast feed, becaus
e the breast's milk ducts and nipples are left intact. Larger breasts can be lifted, but in some cases the results may not last as long as the results from a patient with small breasts.

What Is Liposuction Surgery, and How Can It Help Me?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that helps to sculpt the body by removing excess fat from specific areas of the body. Through a small incision, a slim tube is inserted through the incision to remove the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is then inserted and moved through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them through a vacuum pump or a large syringe. Liposuction surgery is not a substitute for dieting and exercise, but it can help with the stubborn areas of fat that do not seem to be affected by normal weight loss methods.
Good candidates for a liposuction procedure are people who are within 30% of their ideal weight and have firm, elastic skin with pockets of excess fat in certain areas. You should be realistic about your expectations and in good physical and mental health. Individuals with certain medical conditions may not be suitable candidates for liposuction surgery - check with your plastic surgeon if you have such a medical condition.

Following Suction Lipectomy, Most People Have Very Little Pain

Before you receive a liposuction procedure, your plastic surgeon will carefully outline the areas of bulging fat that are to be suctioned. He or she will then draw detailed contour lines in order to further define the contour and shape characteristics of the deposits of fat. Plastic surgeons will use the "tumescent technique" in which a large amount of fluid will be initially placed to swell the area. This technique will allow for fat to be removed in a very smooth, safe, and symmetrical manner. The fluid is able to help loosen the fat while providing a local anesthesia for operative and immediate post-operative discomfort. It will also be able to provide epinephrine which is capable of decreasing bleeding.

Cosmetic Surgeons Perform Facelift Surgery For Many Reasons

A rhytidectomy procedure will be incapable of stopping this process, but it is capable of "turning back the hands of time." A rhytidectomy (sometimes referred to as a face lift) is made to reduce much of the loeeseness and many of the heavy folds and wrinkles of the neck and face. The procedure will also improve the contour of a person's necklines and jaw. However, a face lift will not completely remove every line, wrinkle, and fold. There is a limited amount of improvement around the eyes and with fine lines of the facial skin. A rhytidectomy alone will not be able to improve acne scars, "smoker's" lines around the mouth, or poor complexion. Other options are available to treat these various problems including chemical peels, dermabrasion, and laser treatment.

Performed By A Cosmetic Surgeon, A Face Lift Turns Back the Hands of Time

A rhytidectomy is able to improve the most visible signs of aging by tightening and sculpting the deeper foundation and structures of the neck and face. As a person ages, the effects of sun exposure, gravity, smoking, heredity, weight fluctuations, and the stresses of daily life begin to show themselves in their face. A face lift procedure can bring back youth to an individual's face. In youth, a face is smooth and firm due to proper positioning of normal facial fat and good skin elasticity. As a person ages, muscle tone and skin elasticity weaken and facial fat descends which causes prominent skin folds and deep creases between the corner of the mouth and nose. A person's jowls become more prominent along with loose skin and fat deposits in the neck.

Face Lift Surgery in Lexington Kentucky

Face lift surgery in Lexington Kentucky will not stop or slow the process of aging, however, a face lift surgery procedure can 'turn back time', creating a more younger looking result through a plastic surgeon altering and adjusting the skin tissue of your face and neck, remove any excess fat and tighten facial muscles underneath the skin. A face lift surgery procedure may be performed along with other facial cosmetic procedures such as forehead lift, eyelid surgery and nose reshaping, among other procedures.

Someone considered an ideal candidate for a face lift surgery procedure is a man or woman who are experiencing sagging skin on the neck and face, though the skin retains some of its normal elasticity. A strong, well defined facial bone structure actually makes a face lift procedure simpler. The average age of most face lift patients are in their 40's to 60's, though some patients have had face lift surgery in their 70's and 80's. Following a Face lift procedure, you will still look like you - a healthier, happier, more youthful looking you. Looking younger and fresher and can increase self-confidence and self esteem. A face lift surgery procedure cannot, however, restore a more youthful energy or vitality.

Body Contouring Plastic Surgery Procedures Can Tighten Virtually Any Area Of Your Body

A body lift procedure is very similar to a face lift. The only difference is that it involves the center of the body. Specifically, a body lift procedure is the surgical contouring of the abdomen, arms, breasts, and thighs in order to remove hanging, excess skin. The cosmetic surgery procedure itself is designed for people that have lost a large amount of weight either through gastric bypass surgery or through exercise and dieting. A significant loss of weight will often leave people with excessive, saggy, and unsightly skin that does not conform to their new, thinner figures. Another type of person who is a candidate for a body lift may be those who have sagging, excessive skin as a result of pregnancy or the normal aging process. As people age, their skin stops producing collagen, proteins, and elastin that are needed to keep skin toned and tight.

Whether your sagging, stretched, or loose skin is because of pregnancy, aging, or loss of weight, a body lift is able to help you get the contours of your body back to normal. The surgery will also be able to provide you with tighter, smoother, younger looking skin. Plastic surgeons are capable of performing full body lifts or surgery specific to the following areas: arms, abdomen, buttocks, breasts, and thighs. An important note is that many plastic surgeons tailor their body lift procedures to meet the aesthetic and health goals and needs of their patients. If you are in need of further information in regards to a body lift surgery, you should set up a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon.

After A Chin Implant Surgery, Your Cosmetic Surgeon Will Give You Care Instructions

After the surgery, the chin will usually be taped in order to minimize swelling and discomfort. Sutures that were placed in the skin will be removed after five to seven days. If the plastic surgeon chose for you to have an intra-oral incision, the sutures will dissolve in time. While recovering from cosmetic chin surgery you will experience some mild swelling and discomfort in the affected area for several days after the procedure. It's typically that you will experience some temporary difficulty with talking and smiling. Blue and black marks can be visible around the neck and chin in some cases. Your cosmetic surgeon will provide you with instructions about your dental hygiene, eating, and any other restrictions to your activities after the procedure.

Plastic Surgeons Use Cheek And Chin Implants To Create A Greater Balance In One's Face

The insertion of a chin implant into one's chin may take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour. During this procedure, the cosmetic surgeon will select the proper size and shape of implant that will properly enhance your appearance. He or she will then proceed to insert the implant into a pocket that has been created over the front of the jawbone. The tiny incision that is used to create the implant pocket and to insert the implant is usually placed inside the mouth (along the lower lip) or in the skin just under one's chin area.

Burn Reconstruction Surgery

Burn Reconstruction surgery following a severe burn is a delicate procedure in which a surgeon must decide how to treat a wound, carefully assess its size, severity, and features. Is there skin tissues missing? Have nerve endings or muscle tissues been damaged? Has the skeletal support system been affected?

A split-thickness skin graft, which is most commonly used to treat burn wounds, uses only the layers of skin that re closest to the surface of the skin. in some cases, it is possible for a plastic surgeon to choose a donor site that is in a less conspicuous place.

A full-thickness skin graft is normally used to treat large, deep burn wounds or to cover lost areas of skin over joints where maximum skin elasticity and movement are necessary.

Quicker Recovery Face Lift in Beverly Hills

The wonders of medical science stride forward daily, and the improvements to procedures and outcomes continue to impress. Just when you get used to the idea that your facial skin Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon and muscles can be tightened for a more youthful appearance, they find a way to cut down the recovery time for your facelift. According to Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Doctor Francis Palmer, "when the proper facial aesthetics are followed, the incisions [and] the tissue dissection can be limited which in turn means there will be smaller scars, less bruising and swelling and a shorter recovery time. This is the idea behind the creation of our 'Celebrity Lift™' that can make you look 10 years younger in less than 90 minutes with a recovery time that’s measured in hours, not weeks." The trick, says Dr. Palmer, "is addressing the central portion of the face, the cheeks. The nasolabial folds are reduced and the cheeks are properly shaped using cheek implants or fillers like Radiesse or Perlane."

Certainly a fast recovery to facelift surgery should appeal to socialites, celebrities, business persons; really, to anyone who wants to look younger and doesn't have the luxury of spending a month or two out of sight to heal. Another benefit Dr. Palmer points out is that, given reduced tissue dissection, "smokers and those with a long history of smoking may still be a candidate for this powerful, yet minimal incision facelift and necklift."

Silicone Breast Implants Used In Breast Lift Surgery Have A Natural Look And Feel

The silicone breast implants (also approved for general use) that plastic surgeons use today have a somewhat thicker shell than the implants that were used before 1992. They are also filled with a thicker silicone gel than past implants. The breast implants come pre-filled in various sizes and they are securely sealed so that there is little to no chance of any leakage. The word silicone with an "e" at the end is referring to a group of chemical compounds that vary in thickness from gels to liquid to a rubbery consistency. Among other things, they contain silicon (with no "e") which is an element, just like carbon, iron, or nitrogen. Silicon is the second most common on Earth after oxygen. When oxygen and silicon are combined it forms silica which is the most common substance on the planet. Most people know silica in many different forms such as crystals, sand, and quartz. Silicone is used in several everyday items such as soaps, lotion, processed foods, chewing gum, and hairspray.

What is the Best Method For Breast Reconstruction?

The unique circumstances of each patient help to determine the best option for the method of reconstruction that can be used. The goals of breast reconstruction surgery are to re-create a breast which matches the opposite breast, or in bilateral cases, to reconstruct two breasts of a patient’s desired size. The nipple and areola (the pigmented area surrounding the nipple) are also reconstructed. It is ideal to consult with a plastic surgeon prior to mastectomy. This allows the plastic surgeon to plan the treatment that is best suited for the patient, even if the patient decides to wait to have reconstructive surgery at a later date.

Immediate breast reconstruction occurs when reconstruction is performed at the time of mastectomy. Immediate reconstruction has the advantage of usually saving the patient at least one subsequent operation, and has been shown to have a significant psychological benefit, as the patient never has to experience the total loss of a breast. All of the reconstruction options listed below can be performed at the time of mastectomy.

Delayed breast reconstruction is done at a later time. For some women, this may be advised, especially if radiation to the chest area is needed after the mastectomy. Delayed reconstruction is appropriate for these women because radiation therapy following breast reconstruction can increase complications after reconstructive surgery.

Your Cosmetic Surgeon Will Make Sure That Your Face Lift Procedure Is Individualized For You

A face lift procedure is very individualized. In your initial consultation with your plastic surgeon he or she will evaluate your face. This evaluation will include the skin and the underlying bone structure. Then your doctor will discuss your goals for the surgery with you. He or she will then review your medical history and check you for any conditions that could possibly cause problems during or after the procedure. These conditions include uncontrolled high blood pressure, the tendency to form excessive scars, and blood clotting problems. You must be sure to inform your surgeon of all the vitamins, herbs, and medications that you are taking. If you are a smoker, your cosmetic surgeon will counsel you on the increased risks associated with healing and he or she will wait for you to have stopped smoking for at least two months before performing a procedure.

A Plastic Surgeon Can Reverse The Effects Of Gravity On Your Face With A Facelift

A rhytidectomy, most commonly referred to as a face lift, is a plastic surgery procedure that is capable of "set the clock back" with your neck and face. As a person ages the effects of gravity and exposure to the sun along with the stresses of daily life can be seen within their faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth, the jawline grows jowly and slack, and folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A face lift is capable of improving the most visible signs of aging successfully by removing excess fat, re-draping the skin of your neck and face, and tightening the underlying muscles.

A Compression Garment Will Be Recommended By Your Cosmetic Surgeon After Liposuction

After liposuction surgery, the patient will be able to go home with a compression garment that covers the areas that have been treated. Compression of the areas where liposuction has been performed is recommended for about a month since it will help reduce swelling after the procedure. Once the soreness and pain decrease, it's frequently more comfortable to wear spandex or lycra exercise pants. Initial discomfort from the liposuction surgery will be easily controlled through the use of oral medication. Swelling and bruising will typically subside in two to four weeks with final results taking shape over two to three months.

UAL Performed By A Plastic Surgeon Allows For A Safer Removal Of Fat

The use of UAL by plastic surgeons allows for a safer removal of larger amounts of fat than that of a standard liposuction procedure. The increase in safety is due to the smaller amount of blood removed with UAL. This means that UAL surgery can be extremely useful to someone who is only somewhat overweight even though the procedure is not meant for weight loss. Ultrasound assisted liposuction was created to improve the proportions and contour of the treated areas, resulting in a more flattering figure or physique.

Commonly Involved Areas Of Liposuction Include Upper Arms, Waist, Thighs, Trunk, And Abdomen

You may be a good candidate for a liposuction procedure if you have excess subcutaneous fat, which is resistant to exercise and diet. Liposuction may also be something you desire if you would like to change the contours of your body. The most common areas on the body that liposuction is performed on are the armpits and upper arms, male breast/chest, the anterior part of the neck, thighs, waist, hips, ankles, calves, and trunk. Most patients who receive liposuction are near normal weight and desire a permanent change in their contour.

Considering Breast Surgery - Tulsa, OK

Tulsa Breast Surgery - Apart from knowing the steps a surgeon will take in performing a breast augmentation, it's wise to give Tulsa Breast Surgery heed to your doctor's pre- and postoperative instructions. After all, however skilled the surgeon, the patient provides the working materials. Smokers will be instructed to set their tobacco aside for a period prior to surgery, and aspirin is another substance your doctor will likely ask you to avoid. It's not to deprive you of anything; these things can result in increased bleeding, which creates unwanted complications in the operating room. Your surgeon only wants your procedure to be as successful as possible. Tulsa, OK, plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Mitchell, says that your surgeon might also request a mammogram be performed prior to surgery, to be used as a baseline in detecting future changes in your breast tissue. Naturally, continued self-examination following surgery is wise.

For more information, or to schedule your consultation with Dr. Mitchell, see drrobertmitchell.com

What You Should Know About Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most popular aesthetic plastic surgery procedures performed. That fact is not too surprising considering some fat deposits are quite resistant to diet and exercise. In women, the hips thighs and abdomen are stubborn. In men, the abdomen and lower back are commonly problematic. Liposuction is a safe and effective way to remove these unwanted fatty prominences.

There are so many different types of liposuction surgery available now; it can be confusing trying to determine what the best choice for you might be. Liposuction can be broken down in to two major types. Those that include the use of energy such as laser or ultrasound to remove the fat, and those that rely on the plastic surgeons own efforts to remove the fat.

Some surgeons are strong believers in avoiding the use of energy to remove fat. These modalities create heat in the tissues and in some studies have been shown to have increased complication rates, including burns and contour deformities. New research is supporting that it is important to leave healthy fat behind to assist in healing and to obtain better contouring. This newer data supports the decision to use the super-wet liposuction in many plastic surgeon's practices. This method utilizes fluid being placed into the fatty deposits with a small tube, and then the excess fat is suctioned away utilizing small tubes that are inserted and operated by the surgeon without the use of heat or ultrasound energy. The fluid that is instilled contains medications that decreases blood loss and provides anesthetic to the area for better post-operative comfort.

Many patients request the least down-time possible and consequently inquire about avoiding anesthesia. Performing these procedures under local anesthesia limits the amount of fat that can be removed and adequate comfort can be difficult to insure. Other patients inquire about the use of fat dissolving chemicals that can be injected while the patient is awake. These substances are not FDA approved, and no long term follow-up data on performance, efficacy or safety is available. Additionally, repeated treatments are required and the results that have been seen are frequently inadequate.

So What Are Dermal fillers?

Filler agent treatments for facial aging are one of the most rapidly growing areas of cosmetic medicine. When a plastic surgeon evaluates patients who desire facial rejuvenation, they consider a three prong approach. Surgery and skin care can be vital to obtaining the best result, but the third prong includes fillers. They are a wonderful adjunct in many patients. They can improve the result of surgery in most, but in some, fillers can provide enough improvement that surgery can be delayed.

So what are Dermal fillers? They are products designed to be injected into the skin to correct and soften lines or furrows. They can also be used to increase lip volume. There is a dizzying array of products available that are made from different substances. Some products are derived from animals, and other from cadavers. Still others are bio-engineered. I currently prefer Juvederm. It is made from a substance called hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of human skin. There is no risk of allergy, so skin testing is not required in advance of treatment. It is a gel formulation, unlike some earlier generation products that are particulate in character. The gel injects smoothly and does not result in lumps or bumps under the skin.

In the past, the lack of longevity of result was a concern for many patients considering filler treatments. Juvederm generally lasts between nine and twelve months in the vast majority of patients. While it is not permanent, most things in life do require maintenance.

Breast Augmentation Surgery Explained

Breast augmentation is a procedure used to enlarge small breasts and create a balance for breasts of different size or proportion. Breast implants are used to add fullness to breasts that have decreased in size or begun to sag due to age or pregnancy.

Breast implant options basically can be narrowed down to two types: silicone gel and saline (or salt water) filled. Most breast enlargement procedures use saline-filled implants; although some situations still warrant the use of silicone gel implants for best results. Recent advantages in implant technologies offer options that create a more natural look than ever before.

It remains that with any elective cosmetic surgery, it is very important for women considering this procedure to be given informed consent. This means that anyone considering having permanent implantation of a medical device is made aware not only of the risks of the operation itself, but also of the lifelong risks of having implants.

Be sure to consult with a plastic surgeon, and do your research to ensure you fully understand the procedure, its risks and what to expect from the surgery. There are many excellent websites offering up information on breast augmentation. The best website I have found in my research is Lookingyourbest.com - a free to use website that provides a great amount of in depth plastic surgery information and there is even a free service to help anyone considering breast augmentation locate a skilled , experienced and qualified plastic surgeon in their area.

This process creates a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, creating smooth, natural looks.

Radiesse ® is a non-surgical facial contouring filler that delivers an immediate and long-lasting result. Used to restore and reshape obvious signs of facial aging, Radiesse ® remains soft and pliable and takes on characteristics of surrounding tissue.
Radiesse ® is made of very tiny, smooth, calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin through a simple, safe and minimally invasive procedure. The microspheres (particles) form a scaffold through which your body’s own collagen grows.

This unique composition provides immediate visual improvement common with other fillers, along with the benefit of long-lasting results. For the first three months after injection, Radiesse ® initially performs as a filler substance by plumping up the skin. Then due to its collagen-generating properties, Radiesse ® actually stimulates new tissue development for extended correction for up to 12 to 24 months.

Restylane ® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, providing a smoother, more youthful appearance. It has also become the preferred treatment for lip enhancement. Restylane ® is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. Restylane ® maintains its shape using the body’s own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane ® is hydrophilic or “water loving.” As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results.

For anyone considering Dermal Filler procedures to restore that youthful look, please be sure and consult with a qualified Skin care specialist prior to having any cosmetic procedure. It is also recommended that you do some research to make sure you understand your chosen procedure prior to scheduling the procedure. There are many websites on the internet that provide information about dermal fillers- the best and most accurate website I have found is lookingyourbest.com- a free website offering a wealth of in depth plastic surgery information.

Breast Augmentation Basics

One decision more and more women are making everyday is to have cosmetic surgery in particular breast enhancement surgery (a procedure to enhance the size of your breasts by using implants – saline implants or silicone implants.) Rhinoplasty in California

Rhinoplasty, also known as Nose Surgery, is a procedure meant to improve the appearance of the nose through surgery. Most female patients generally have a nose surgery procedure to reduce the prominent "hump"(also referred to as a nasaldorsum) on the bridge of the nose. Rhinoplasty surgery also provides for narrowing the shape of the nose from a frontal view which aids in creating a more feminine appearance and giving balance to the nose in relation to other facial features.

The tip of the nose is is also refined during a rhinoplasty procedure. By narrowing the tip of the nose and altering its position, the tip of the nose looks more feminine. The techniques utilized by a plastic surgeon to refine a nasal dorsum and tip of the nose are achieved through the process of selective removal of cartilage in one area of the nose, while adding cartilage in other areas. The precision use of a technique called 'cartilage suturing' is also employed to give the tip of the nose a more attractive appearance.

Men who desire nose surgery may have some nasal deviation and desire cosmetic improvement to the nose. The overall goal of a rhinoplasty procedure is to provide a nose that has been straightened through cosmetic refinement of the dorsum and tip of the nose, while preserving each individuals unique facial character and masculine appearance.

Non Invasive Procedures Are Becoming More Popular

With economy in its current state, many are reducing their spending, which affects almost every industry in the United States. The Cosmetic and plastic surgery industry has seen a bigger drop off than most other industries and this is due to the fact that most every plastic or cosmetic procedure available is to be considered an elective surgical procedure, and are not deemed necessary to a healthy lifestyle.

Recent trends have shown a quite noticeable reduction of the most popular plastic surgery procedures - Breast Augmentation surgery, Body contouring procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck surgery, and face lift surgery have all seen a decline in the overall number of these procedures performed. Of Course is no secret why these popular procedures have recently become less popular. All of these elective surgery procedures can cost thousands of dollars, and most people interested in finding beauty through cosmetic surgery are now looking for less expensive solutions for looking younger.

Experts in the cosmetic surgery profession, such as Hawaii Plastic surgeon Dr de los Reyes, recommend less invasive procedures to achieve that youthful look without breaking the bank. These procedures include the ever popular BOTOX treatments, Chemical peels, and other facial rejuvenation procedures such as microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing.

Plastic Surgery Q&A - Facelift Surgery

How long does a facelift usually last?

The length of time the results of a facelift procedure will last depend on a number of factors - the type of facelift procedure and surgical techniques used, the patient's skin type, aging, medical history, exposure to the elements, skin care regimen, how well a patient followed post operative instructions, alcohol use and smoking can all affect the longevity of facelift surgery results. The traditional answer is approximately ten years. However, taking into account the fact that the aging process cannot be stopped, anyone considering a facelift surgery procedure can expect to look better after a face lift procedure.

The best candidates for a facelift surgery procedure are men and women who are experiencing sagging skin in the face and neck area, even though their skin may still retain some of its natural elasticity.

A well-defined facial bone structure makes a facelift procedure more simple. While a facelift surgery procedure can be performed on patients in their 60's and 70's, the majority of patients undergo a facelift procedure in their 40's and 50's.

Following a facelift surgery procedure, a patient will still look like themselves, the procedure will restore a youthful refreshed look to the face and can also restore self-confidence. However, a facelift procedure will not restore youthful energy or vitality.

Plastic Surgery Q&A - Breast Reduction

The size of my breasts are very large and sag. Can a breast reduction help me?

You may be a good candidate for breast reduction if you have: breasts that are too large in proportion to your body frame; heavy, pendulous breasts with nipples and areolas that point downward; one breast is much larger than the other; back, neck or shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts; skin irritation beneath your breasts; indentations in your shoulders from tight bra straps; restriction of physical activity due to the size and weight of your breasts; or dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about the largeness of your breasts.

Breast reduction can be performed at any age, but plastic surgeons usually recommend waiting until breast development has stopped. Childbirth and breast-feeding may have significant and unpredictable effects on the size and shape of your breasts. Nevertheless, many women decide to undergo breast reduction before having children and feel that they can address any subsequent changes later. If you plan to breast-feed in the future, you should discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Plastic Surgery Q&A - Nose Surgery

Nose Surgery, also referred to as Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems.

Rhinoplasty can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your plastic surgeon.

The best candidates for rhinoplasty are people who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you're physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate.

Liposuction Is One of The Most Popular Procedures Today

One of the most popular procedures today, liposuction is designed to eliminate fatty deposits in various areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks or neck. This is not a weight loss procedure but rather a sculpting of areas that are refractory to dieting and exercise. During the tumescent liposuction procedure, fluid is injected into the tissue to improve the efficiency of fat removal and to decrease the blood loss. Then, a cannula connected to a vacuum pump is inserted through a small 1/4” incision in a normal skin fold, and the area is suctioned. Today, advanced techniques using ultrasonic and power assisted cannulas have enhanced results. This procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and the patient can resume normal activities within a week's time, but must refrain from exercising and sports for three weeks postoperatively.

Patients who desire liposuction surgery usually are seeking to reduce the size of a protruding fat deposits throughout the body. This procedure is best for individuals who are seeking to reduce fat deposits and are in relatively good health. Age is not a factor in liposuction, except that older patients' skin may not be as elastic and may not yield the same result as a person with more elastic skin. Eliminating these deposits may also affect an individual's confidence, leading them to seek their own Liposuction surgery procedure.

A liposuction can help such individuals restore a thinner and fitter looking contour to their bodies. The specified portion of the body is made smaller to better match the shape of the patient. The plastic surgeon accomplishes this by removing excess fat through a vacuuming procedure. This not only helps to restore the physical appearance of the patient, but also restores self-confidence and respect to the patient.

Liposuction is a very individualized procedure in which your goals should be realistically determined and discussed with your plastic surgeon. Together you will determine what specific procedures will be performed. Liposuction is often performed in conjunction with other procedures such as abdominoplasty to achieve an effect that better matches the proportions of the body. Once your goals have been determined you will set a date for this procedure and will be given instructions about how to prepare.

Why Not Breast Augmentation - Carson City

Breast Augmentation in Carson City - Dr. Kent Gabriel is a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon and has been practicing in Breast augmentation in Carson City, NVNorthern Nevada since 1994. In this day of scientific sensation and medical miracles, much is expected of a person's appearance. What was once called superfluous affectation is now basic hygiene. Parents of children with crooked teeth, for example, think nothing (except maybe the cost) of having those teeth surgically straightened, because a crooked smile could have a negative impact on that child's quality of life.

A woman whose breasts have lost volume or shape to the effects of time, childbirth, gravity, and more, can also feel a negative impact on her quality of life. Breast implant surgery is one way to improve her appearance, in much the same way an oral surgery can improve a smile.

Liposuction Has Become One Of The Most Popular Surgery Procedures

Liposuction surgery is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedure performed these days. Liposuction surgery has different names and techniques, such as Suction assisted liposuction, tumescent liposuction, and power assisted liposuction. all of these techniques involve the same surgery procedure. The ultrasonic liposuction procedure uses sound waves to remove excess fatty tissue. It removes fat in areas that are resistant to proper diet and regular exercise, even if you aren't heavy or have a small body frame. This procedure also works well on patients who are over their ideal body weight and have localized excess fat deposits. Liposuction surgery is not a substitute for maintaining a proper diet and exercise plan. Ideally, Liposuction surgery is best suited for the problem areas in the lower body, but it can also be used on the neck, arms, and can even removes excess fat in the breasts in men, a condition called gynecomastia and this surgical procedure can also help women with excess breast fat- a procedure referred to as reduction mammoplasty, more commonly called breast reduction surgery.

What is the Difference Between a Full Tummy Tuck and a Mini-Tummy Tuck?

Tummy Tuck surgery, also known as Abdominoplasty surgery, is a surgical procedure in which the loose skin of the stomach area is removed and the muscles of the abdominal area are tightened. While a strict exercise and diet plan will help most people firm their stomach, which in turn helps them to feel and look better, some problems, such as protruding belly, loose or hanging skin, and weak muscles on both men and women can be improved with this surgical procedure. Every year, more than 80,000 women and men across the U.S. elect to have a tummy tuck surgery procedure. Women and men who have a protruding belly, loose or hanging abdominal skin and weak abdominal muscles are all excellent candidates for the full tummy tuck surgery procedure. A Mini-Abdominoplasty surgery, commonly referred to as a mini-tummy tuck, is a procedure that can be performed on patients who have a smaller or limited amount of loose skin and/or stretch marks in the lower abdomen, and do not need the normal tightening of abdominal muscles as in a full abdominoplasty surgery procedure. However, if the patient has excessive fat but minimal or limited looseness of the abdominal wall, the procedure may be performed in along with a liposuction procedure.
Women that plan to become pregnant should not have this surgery procedure, because a second procedure may be required in order to re-tighten the belly after pregnancy. In most cases, abdominoplasty surgery removes the stretch marks inherent with pregnancy, because this procedure removes most of the "stretched out" skin below the navel.

Two Forms Of Surgery For Post-Partum "Tune-ups"

The birth of a child is one of the most exciting events in a woman’s life. However, it is often distressing, especially to first-time moms, when their bodies do not spring back into pre-pregnancy shape, often leaving them with sagging breasts, stretched abdomens, and an overall matronly feeling. Motherhood now has a new shape. Thanks to advances in cosmetic surgery, postpartum mothers can now reclaim their bikini bodies faster than ever before. Many women, although ecstatic about newfound motherhood, are riddled with insecurity after childbirth due to excessive weight gain in areas which may not have been troublesome before. Women primarily seek two forms of surgery as post par tum “tune-ups”— abdominoplasty (commonly referred to as a tummy tuck), and breast enhancement surgery(including breast lift and breast augmentation).

Unlike women who are simply overweight, pregnancy puts a certain strain on the body which cannot always be com bated by diet and exercise alone. The midsection of the abdomen can be compared to a girdle, a garment which is composed of an elastic portion which, when stretched, is likely to become one size too big. In the abdominal section, women often lose the desired “girdling” effect after childbirth, which can occur in varying degrees. Pregnancy not only weakens the muscles, but stretches out the connective tissue, which for most women will not revert to original form on its own. A tummy tuck not only targets excess skin, but also works to re tighten the connective tissue so that the abdominal wall reacts to give the waistline a desirable indentation. Without tightening the connective tissue and exerting a girdling effect on intra-abdominal contents, women cannot achieve their pre-pregnancy appearance.

As with any surgical procedure, it is important that anyone considering a plastic or cosmetic procedure do their research and consult with a qualified and skilled surgeon such as Newport Beach Plastic Surgeon Dr Ackerman. Plastic Surgery in San Francisco- Breast Reconstruction

There are many techniques available to reconstruct a breast following mastectomy. All of the techniques described here can be performed at the time of mastectomy. Gynecomastia Affects Half Of All Men, But Surgery Can Help

Gynecomastia is the proper medical term used to describe irregular breast development in males. Gynecomastia is a condition that affects almost half of males during development and it is a fairly common condition that can occur on either one or both sides of the chest. This condition is the result of extra breast tissue, fat, or both. Usually, gynecomastia develops during a normal phase of development. This condition can happen at the beginning stages of puberty, however in most cases reverts by the age of 20. This condition can also happen during aging in normally healthy males. Other "pathological" causes of gynecomastia can occur, usually due to both a decline in the production of the male hormone testosterone, and an increase in the production of the female hormone estrogen. The use of certain drugs can also contribute to the cause of gynecomastia.

A plastic surgeon will usually treat this condition by reducing the size of the soft tissues by removal of the fatty tissues through a liposuction procedure or through the open removal of the breast's glandular tissues through a tiny incision around the areola. In cases where the patient has excessive amounts of skin, longer incisions are ultimately necessary for the removal of the excess skin and tissue. These longer incisions will also result in a larger scar.

An Under Developed Chin Can Be Corrected Through Surgery

A person with a small chin can appear weak and a small chin can also be the source of teasing and ridicule. A lower jaw that has not properly developed, with an irregular contact of teeth in the upper and lower jaw (a condition known as malocclusion) or an overbite requires a combination of orthodontic and maxillofacial surgery to relocate the entire jawbone forward thereby correcting the imbalance. However, in most cases, the teeth and upper and lower jaw are properly aligned, but the chin has not developed normally. In such cases, major surgery is not necessary. The use of a prosthetic facial implant can result in a very effective correction of this problem. When choosing an implant the correction method, the plastic surgeon will insert the implant through a small incision either under the chin or though an incision in the mouth.

You Can Improve Your Sun-Damaged Skin With Laser Treatments

Currently, there are many lasers used for facial and skin rejuvenation and to treat sun damage and photo-aging of the skin. One older laser system, the carbon dioxide laser, has been very effective for treating sun damaged skin but has fallen out of favor. This is because it routinely caused extensive rawness of the skin that typically required over 2 weeks of “hiding out” or “downtime” to recover. In addition to the time it took to heal, it frequently caused skin discoloration and occasionally scarring. Many lasers available today require very little downtime and yield some improvement of the skin but are not nearly as effective as the carbon dioxide laser. As with any procedure, anyone considering laser skin treatments should first consult with a plastic surgeon prior to under going their chosen procedure.

Male Breast Reduction Surgery in Los Angeles, CA

English is a funny language. We talk about things that aren't there. For example, when was the last time you complimented someone on what a lovely "gown with a back on it" she was wearing?

Mention Los Angeles breast reduction surgery to someone and I expect they'll think of women seeking relief from back, neck, and shoulder pain. It's a legitimate response, but not the only correct one. Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, well known and respected Los Angeles plastic surgeon, saw enough of a need to make information available about male breast reduction surgery that he launched BeverlyHillsGynecomastia.com. As Dr. Teitelbaum points out, more men will develop gynecomastia than will not, but that doesn’t make it any less concerning for those who suffer from it. His site gives men a convenient, private way to learn more about what can be done about gynecomastia.

Women with extremely large or sagging breasts can be both emotionally and physically uncomfortable. According to Dr. Placik, a Chicago plastic surgeon, they may suffer from back and neck pain, irritation under the breasts and soreness where brassiere straps cut into their shoulders. Also, these women could be very self-conscious about the size of their breasts. Furthermore, it may be difficult for them to find attractive clothing that fits properly; sometimes it is necessary to buy costly custom-made clothing and supportive garments. For these women, a breast reduction may be necessary.

West Palm Beach Plastic Surgeon Offers Reduction Mammoplasty

For a breast reduction, incisions are placed around the areola in an effort to slide it into its proper position followed by removal of excess sagging breast tissue and skin. Sometimes the incision may be limited to just around the areola. In other cases, the incision may involve an incision in the shape of an upside down "T" or "anchor" that extends from the areola down the center portion of one's breast and then into the inframammary fold. According to Dr. Pinsky, a West Palm Beach plastic surgeon, the amount of incisions that are required is determined by the amount of lifting that is desired.

Plastic Surgeons Use Mastopexy Surgery To Reshape And Raise A Woman's Breasts

Breast lift surgery restores a more youthful appearance to a woman's breasts. Over years breasts can lose their shape and firmness due to weight changes, pregnancy, and nursing with loss of skin elasticity causing them to sag. A breast lift, or mastopexy is able to reshape and raise the breasts slowing the effectd of gravity and aging. This procedure can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker pigmented skin around the nipple. According to a West Palm Beach plastic surgeon, mastopexies are commonly performed in conjunction with breast augmentation to increase superior pole fullness, breast firmness, and size. This may appeal to a woman who has lost breast volume after pregnancy.

West Palm Beach Cosmetic Surgeon Offers Augmentation Mammoplasty

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman's breasts. Some candidates may feel that their breast size is too small. Dr. Pinsky, a West Palm Beach plastic surgeon says, the procedure is also used for women following a pregnancy to restore volume to their breasts. Breast augmentation can also be performed to correct for differences in a woman's right and left breast size. Some patients have different surgical goals – for example, a more natural breast shape in proportion to a woman's figure. Others prefer a more rounded shape in the upper pole of their breast somewhat larger than their proportionate figure. These goals can be achieved by using larger or smaller saline breast implants, and by adjusting the fill volume for each of the implants. In the breast augmentation procedure, short incisions are placed in the inframammary fold, around the lower portion of the areola (pigmented portion of the nipple) or through the axilla.

Liposuction Is For You If You Have Fatty Areas That Don't Respond To Diet Or Exercise

Liposuction may be a great option for you if you have fatty areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. Liposuction is not a cellulite treatment or weight-loss procedure and those who are in good shape yet struggle with "problem" areas are the best candidates. The procedure contours and slims various areas of a person's body by removing the excess fat. Liposuction does not treat loose or sagging skin. In some cases, liposuction is performed alone, in other cases it is used with procedures such as a breast reduction/lift or a tummy tuck, which can reduce sagging skin. According to Tacoma plastic surgeon, Dr. Nichols, when combined with other procedures, liposuction can be one of the procedures in a Mommy Makeover.

Breast Reconstruction Is Often Chosen By Woman Who Need A Mastectomy

Any woman that is facing a removal of a breast also faces another difficult decision, the timing of and the desire for reconstructive breast surgery. While the procedure is able to be performed many years after the mastectomy, recent advances encourage that women undergo simultaneous removal and reconstruction. Simultaneous breast reconstruction offers several distinct emotional advantages: the avoidance of a non-reconstructed breast, a reduced period of postoperative discouragement in appearance, the avoidance of potentially unnatural appearing breast implants, and an improved sense of self-confidence and self-esteem. According to Dr. Hoefflin, a Los Angeles plastic surgeon, having the procedure performed simultaneously also offers several surgical advantages: preservation of native breast skin on the reconstructed breast, greater symmetry in shape and volume, and the avoidance of another major general anesthetic procedure.

Abdominoplasty Utah - A tummy tuck operation involves making an incision that falls along the natural skin creases of the lower abdomen, usually correlating with the bikini line. From there, the skin is lifted away from the abdomen, creating a flap. Depending on the patient's individual situation, the navel may be repositioned, fat may be liposuctioned away, and excess skin is excised, or cut away. Scarring is minimized as much as possible by the incision's being located in a natural crease, and by the application of vitamins and adhesives, but a scar is to be expected whenever there is an incision.

Utah cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kimball Crofts, also reminds potential patients that planned future pregnancies and certain medical conditions can make the procedure unsafe. The best way to know for sure if you are a good candidate for this procedure is in a personal consultation with your surgeon.

Abdominoplasty - Palm Desert, CA

Eat the right things, don't eat the wrong things, exercise regularly, get the right amount of sleep; these are all supposed to help you have the body you want. Unfortunately, bodies don't always listen to the experts. Happily, there are additional means of body contouring available to us when fat deposits and loose skin don't obey the eviction notice.

Plastic surgeons, like Palm Desert's Dr. Habash, can use liposuction techniques to specifically target those fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. Loose skin, like that empty roll hanging from the tummy, can be cut away, and the scar is usually well hidden by most clothing. To see if a tummy tuck in Palm Desert is right for you, you'll want to arrange a consultation with Dr. Habash.

Considering a Cosmetic Surgeon in Vancouver

Vancouver cosmetic surgeryWhat are some things you look for in a cosmetic surgeon? I believe the first thing you need is someone who knows what they are doing. Cosmetic surgery is not something to trifle with, and it helps to know that your doctor has the experience to get it right. Another thing to look for is board certification. Third, cosmetic surgery is an extremely personal matter, so having a doctor who fits you seems pretty critical, too.

There is a cosmetic surgeon in Vancouver, WA, named Dr. Brar. Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and American Board of Surgery, Dr. Brar has over 40 years' experience. A personal consultation to share your expectations and better understand the procedures you are considering could show whether Dr. Brar is the right cosmetic surgeon for you.
